Croatia Electric Vehicle Grant: How Invoice Prices Set Subsidy Ceilings

2 min read

Croatia's grant programme uses the final invoice price including VAT to place an electric vehicle in a price tier. The tier sets a ceiling, and the grant is the lower of that ceiling and 40% of the eligible costs.

Indicative result; the authority makes the final decision.

On this page

For a new electric vehicle in Croatia's grant programme, the final invoice price decides which maximum ceiling applies. This page explains how that price is read and what the ceiling does and does not tell you.

Price band standard tier passenger car limit
Applies to a new electric passenger car when the price including VAT is up to 35,000 EUR.
Price band upper tier passenger car limit
Applies to a new electric passenger car when the price including VAT is above 35,000 EUR and up to 62,500 EUR.
Light electric vehicles price limit
Applies to new electric vehicles of categories L1 to L7 whose price including VAT is up to 35,000 EUR.
Maximum grant ceilings by category
Up to 9,000 EUR for standard passenger cars, up to 7,000 EUR for upper tier passenger cars and up to 2,500 EUR for categories L1 to L7; the grant is the lower of the ceiling and 40% of the eligible costs.

Which price counts

The Fund takes into account the final sale price of the vehicle shown on the invoice. The 35,000 EUR threshold that separates the passenger car tiers is applied to that final price including VAT.

Factory-fitted additional equipment is treated as part of the total price of the vehicle.

How the price band picks the ceiling

For a new electric passenger car, the dividing line is 35,000 EUR including VAT. If the final sale price is up to 35,000 EUR, the vehicle is in the standard passenger car tier, with a ceiling of 9,000 EUR. If the price is above 35,000 EUR and up to 62,500 EUR, the vehicle is in the upper passenger car tier, with a ceiling of 7,000 EUR.

A separate category covers new electric vehicles of categories L1 to L7 whose price including VAT is up to 35,000 EUR, with a ceiling of 2,500 EUR. For any single vehicle, one ceiling applies, as a one-off payment.

What the ceiling is and is not

The grant is never a fixed amount. For each vehicle it is the lower of the applicable ceiling and 40% of the eligible costs. The ceilings are 9,000 EUR for standard passenger cars, 7,000 EUR for upper tier passenger cars and 2,500 EUR for categories L1 to L7.

The programme record does not state what the eligible costs are made of, and it does not state that the 40% is taken from the invoice price. This page therefore calculates no grant for any vehicle. The Amounts and Eligibility pages hold the full rules.

What this page does not decide

The figures on this page come from the retained programme record and are not a fresh check against today's official pages. The amount for a given vehicle depends on its actual invoice, and this page does not work it out.

This page does not say whether the current call is open, and it does not settle whether plug-in hybrids, range extenders or fuel-cell vehicles qualify. See the Programme overview and the Application documents page for more.
