NoVA exemption for zero-emission vehicles

Austria's NoVA exemption for zero-emission vehicles

An exemption from the Normverbrauchsabgabe (NoVA) for vehicles with a CO2 emission value of 0 g/km. It is a tax rule, not a payment to the buyer.

CivilAuto explains the rules and helps you check your eligibility.

How the tax relief works

Exemption

The Normverbrauchsabgabe (NoVA) on motor vehicles (section 3 (1) Z 1 NoVAG 1991).

Motor vehicles that have a CO2 emission value of 0 g/km because of their drive, in particular electric or hydrogen vehicles, are exempt from the NoVA. Hybrid vehicles that are driven both electrically and by another fuel source (combustion engine) are not exempt. The exemption is not granted as a refund; it is taken into account at the time of delivery.

This page shows no NoVA amount, rate, saving or sum payable.
