How the tax relief works
Reduced rate
Registration tax on passenger cars that emit 0 g CO2 per km (section 5 b).
For a new zero-emission passenger car notified for registration in 2026: 40% of the normal registration tax, less a DKK 161,300 deduction. The share rises yearly to 100% from 2036; used cars are adjusted.
Registration tax is paid at first registration. For a new car bought in Denmark, the dealer normally handles it.
