What the Walloon table sets for electric vehicles

For an electric vehicle the table sets the CO2 factor at 1 and assigns an energy coefficient by engine power. The page also gives the base amounts by engine power, the degressivity by age and the limits of the amount to pay.

How long the table is valid

The table is valid from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027.

The CO2 factor for electric vehicles

For an electric vehicle, the table sets the CO2 factor (CO2/X) at 1.

The energy coefficient for electric and hydrogen vehicles

The table assigns the energy coefficient of an electric or hydrogen vehicle according to the power of the engine:

  • Power of 120 kW or less: 0.01
  • Above 120 kW and up to 155 kW: 0.10
  • Above 155 kW and up to 249 kW: 0.18
  • 250 kW or more: 0.26

What the registration certificate shows

The power in kilowatts of the engine is shown in box P2 of the registration certificate. The maximum authorised mass (MMA) is generally shown in box F1.

The date of first registration is shown on the first page of the registration certificate.

How the base amount is set

In the calculation of the registration tax, MB is the base amount after degressivity according to the age of the vehicle.

The base amount is set according to the engine power in kilowatts, following a scale indexed every year on 1 July.

For each engine power, the base amount, to be multiplied by the degressivity coefficient (valid from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027), is:

  • 0 to 70 kW: €64.01
  • 71 to 85 kW: €128.02
  • 86 to 100 kW: €515.20
  • 101 to 110 kW: €902.37
  • 111 to 120 kW: €1,289.55
  • 121 to 155 kW: €2,579.10
  • Above 155 kW: €5,159.25

The base amount is never below €64.01, even after the degressivity coefficient is applied (valid from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027).

Degressivity by the age of the vehicle

The entry for a vehicle of each age is:

  • Age 0: 100%
  • Age 1: 90%
  • Age 2: 80%
  • Age 3: 70%
  • Age 4: 60%
  • Age 5: 55%
  • Age 6: 50%
  • Age 7: 45%
  • Age 8: 40%
  • Age 9: 35%
  • Age 10: 30%
  • Age 11: 25%
  • Age 12: 20%
  • Age 13: 15%
  • Age 14: 10%
  • Age 15 or more: €64.01

The maximum authorised mass in the calculation

In the calculation of the registration tax, the maximum authorised mass (MMA) in kg is divided by Y = 1838.

Limits on the amount to pay

The amount of registration tax to pay will never be lower than €50 nor higher than €9,000.
